Laurens Vreekamp is a design thinker, trainer and a Google Sprint facilitator. He is a mentor at the Accelerator Programme of the Dutch Journalism Fund (SVDJ), and hosts the YouTube show Future Journalism Today LIVE in which he interviews innovators in journalism from all across Europe.
Until recently, Laurens worked as a Teaching Fellow at the Google News Lab, travelling all over the Nordics, Belgium and the Netherlands. During his 26-month fellowship, he has worked with well-over 2200 journalists, among others from Dagens Nyheter, Altinget, Bonnier, TV2, YLE, Mediahuis, DPG Media, NOS, Financieele Dagblad (FD) and the KRO-NCRV.
Before joining Google, Laurens did design research with multiple Dutch news organisations (RTL Nieuws, Nu.nl, FD, Het Parool) as a Fellow of the ‘Journalism Research Group’ at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU) and was awarded Lecturer of the Year (2013). While teaching UX & Journalism classes, he directed a radio show called ‘Nacht van het Goede Leven‘ (Night of the Good Life) on National Public Radio 1. He graduated as European Media Master of Arts in Interactive Media in 2003.
