Rebecca Skippage

Rebecca is a world-renowned expert in disinformation and information manipulation.

She started the BBC’s first disinformation team in 2018, and was the BBC’s Global Disinformation Editor 2021 - 2025. She led award-winning teams across three continents to observe, report and investigate disinformation trends, and verify and debunk misinformation and manipulated media.

Rebecca was a fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford 2020/21, where she focused on how Public Service Media should learn from ‘bad actors’ to reach those currently missing accurate, impartial news and information.

A journalist for more than 25 years, Rebecca has advised the UK government, EU and NATO StratCom on information manipulation, and appeared as a speaker, moderator and panellist at international events on disinformation, cybersecurity and the media.
