Fauziyya Tukur
Information Integrity Specialist
Fauziyya is an award-winning journalist and information integrity specialist with experience in open-source investigation and investigative journalism. She worked for the BBC for seven years as a multimedia journalist and as an investigative journalist covering misinformation and disinformation in Africa. She is interested in the intersection between Artificial Intelligence and information disorder.
Fauziyya is a 2023 fellow of the United States World Press Institute and has attended sessions on the rise of Artificial Intelligence at Stanford University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence in San Francisco. She has taught fact-checking and processes in investigating disinformation campaigns in the Media and Democracy in the Social Media Age class at Bard College. She has facilitated journalism workshops on verification and fact-checking in Europe and Africa.
She serves on the board of Pink Arena Foundation, a non-profit organisation that aims to uplift women through mentoring and coaching in Nigeria. Fauziyya holds a Masters degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
