Climate reporting in Europe - a new report

Earlier this year, Fathm convened journalists, editors and innovators from more than 20 European newsrooms for a special journalism design sprint focused on tackling the most important story of our time: climate change.

In Focus: Europe’s Climate Reporting Landscape 2023 is the cumulation of the two days we spent in Bonn, Germany, fueled by coffee and vegan snacks as we worked together to uncover new opportunities and creative ideas for reporting on the climate crisis.

Fathm CEO, Fergus Bell, says: “We believe the role of journalism to inform society about the climate crisis is more crucial than ever. Putting climate at the heart of decision making is also one of our eight core principles for ensuring that newsrooms chart a path to sustainability.”

The project was made possible by Google News Initiative’s Collaboration for Climate Reporting programme. Written by senior consultant Abigail Edge, you can read the full report on our website.
